$2 Million Payday for Triple Eight
The multimillionaire businessman and architect of what is known as the most successful Australian sport team, Roland Dane, has his two drivers locked in a fight for the V8 crown. This will be for the grand final at Homebush that begins on Friday. He also said that the V8 Supercars title is worth as much as $2 million per year.
The team has already won an astonishing 16 races that has set the Triple Eight for a one-two finish. With this, Dane has revealed that as much as $440,000 worth of bonuses had been given to his team. From this amount, an average of $10,000 per employee has been received. Furthermore, if Lowndes and Whincup ever win the championship, they will have more significant bonuses that will include them among the highest paid drivers in the said sport.
As for the sponsors, potential ones are already beginning to line up for the team.
“Like any sport the aim is to win the championship. And doing it obviously has a knock-on effect in a commercial sense. Winning a championship certainly ups your value and has a significant effect on your revenue and bottom line. If you are running consistently at the top and competing for championships, and doing it every year, chances are the properties you are selling are worth more than if you were punching around midfield or at the back,” said Dane.
