Nowadays, with the cost of living getting much costlier, there is no such cause to wonder why more and more families are forced to stay on a tight budget.
Though it seems that sometimes it has become hard to find things to do that everyone in your family will enjoy, don’t despair. There are still a lot of fun things a family can do together that doesn’t cost a lot of money.
Here are some ideas for family fun on a budget:
- Rent A Movie. Schedule a movie night for your family at home. If you don’t have the budget to watch a movie, there are online movie providers such as Netflix and Redbox which can offer you a huge selection of movies at very reasonable rates. So no matter what your family’s age or interest, these movie providers have something for everyone to enjoy. Now that you have scheduled a movie night in the calendar, then go to the grocery store and grab movie munchies, pop some popcorn, and then get ready to relax and have a peaceful yet fun weekend, snuggling up on the couch and indulging in awesome movies.
- Stay At Home. Though kids tend to like to go out when they want to have a bit of fun, they also like to stay at home to have fun especially if you’re around to have fun with them. Aside from having a movie night with your kids at home as a cheap way to bond with your family, you can also plan to have a family workday in the yard, especially during spring, and let the kids have a ball planting flowers or a vegetable garden.
- Have Fun at the Local Theater. Though you have never been a big fan of the theaters, it seems it’s time to give it a try. Exposing your children to the arts can be very rewarding, not only educationally but culturally. And what better way to do it than helping out your local community or high school theaters. There are many local and high school theaters out there that have the ability to put on fabulous productions year round. And with their array of local talent, costumes, singing and dancing, you can bet that you and your children will be mesmerized. Also, these local and high schools theater shows have the added benefit of having tickets that are inexpensive most of the time.
- Hit the Local Parks. Don’t forget to visit your local parks. With all the convenient and high tech facilities like malls and shopping centers out there, it is often easy to forget what is available to you and your family right in your own neighborhood. In this costly world, one should get back to the basics by visiting your local parks. Schedule a family picnic on a Saturday and make an effort to visit a different park each week. Doing this is not only a fun way to explore what your community has to offer but it is also affordable. Another great budget-friendly option is the state parks. So, if there is one near you, plan on a weekend campout, plan just spending the day hiking and exploring. These state parks for most of the times tend to have very low admission fees, allowing your family a wonderful time even on a tight budget.
So, even when you are on a tight budget, there are still so many possibilities for family fun. Just get creative, letting your imagination along with your common sense rule and then get busy planning!
